Daily there are stories about this Cardinal or that one, this Bishop or that one, this person or that person either demanding Pope Francis’ resignation or offering words of support for the Holy Father and condemnation of Archbishop Vigano.
I don’t quite understand why anyone has to choose sides.
It’s fairly easy to determine the truth of the matter, but that requires a willingness on the part of all parties to tell the truth or at least to committing to finding out what the truth is about Archbishop Vigano’s claims and accusations.
Perhaps if the Holy See would respond directly to the accusations or would provide documentary evidence which even the Archbishop claims is available for review, then the taking of sides and the growing division of loyalties would cease.
Instead, the Holy Father chooses silence.
And Archbishop Vigano and others continue to augment the accusations with additional statements that appear on their face to be credible.
The bickering among the Catholic hierarchy is unseemly and does a disservice to the Sacred Priesthood which they all share.
Would that the truth is eventually proclaimed and the Church would be freed from what appears to be coordinated attacks and counter-attacks between progressive and conservative factions within the ecclesial community.
Lord, please bring wisdom and integrity back to the Church and its leadership.
