No posts for a bit, dear readers.
Frankly, the past week has been quite exhausting. I note that I posted over 25 articles regarding the present state of chaos in which the Church finds itself.
To put it bluntly, I’m pooped!
But so is the Church and so must many of the readers of this blogsite must be.
Aren't you tired of reading or hearing the sordid details and the fallout of recent weeks.
Even before the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report was released, I suggested that the hierarchy were in for a terrible time.
When Archbishop Vigano published his “Saturday night massacre” letter implicating the Pope in a cover up of the disgraced McCarrick, I predicted that Bishops would now become the principal target of the wrath of the Catholic faithful.
This week, the infamous 300 page dossier commissioned by Pope Benedict to investigate the intrusion of a homosexually-dominant clique within the highest levels of Church authority has been leaked to the Italian Press.
The impact of those reports will be devastating to the Holy See.
So on this September, 2018 weekend, I predict we are standing at the threshold of a scandal that will bring down many within the Roman Curia and with them much of the respect and dignity once accorded the Church by believers and non-believers alike.
It is no secret that Italy is and has for centuries been very anti-clerical.
Not only did I complete my theological studies in Rome. I have first cousins who live within minutes of Vatican City and have visited them often over the years.
The reason for the hostility against the Ordained?
It’s complicated but, from my point of view, has very much to do with the fact that, in Italy and elsewhere in Europe, the Ordained were among the most educated. They also lived quite comfortable lives in comparison to their flocks.
And so, envy eventually distilled itself into jealousy and jealousy into hostility.
Cardinals, Bishops and Priests are constantly depicted as effeminate, bumbling buffoons in movies, on television and other forms of entertainment media.
And so, whenever a scandal involving the Clergy raises its ugly head, the Italian Press and populace are eager to advance the story and wallow in the details of the filth.
If the 300 page dossier truly has been leaked (I think we shall know for sure in a matter of days), the shockwave will be felt worldwide.
This weekend and for the next couple of days, I am going to rest up and prepare for what may be an even busier week of articles and posts.
In the meantime, let us pray for our Church so wounded and suffering at this moment.
That’s what I am going to continue to do. I pray you join with me as well.
Have a great weekend, all. Get away from all this and go do something fun!
I'm gonna.
God bless.
